In 2012 voorzag Frank Bruggeman voor het eerst een metalen stoothei (of paalstamper) van een cyaanblauwe coating. Hij presenteerde het object als een vaas op zijn solotentoonstelling How to do the flowers in galerie Brutto Gusto in Berlijn. Sindsdien is de blauwe stootheivaas in verschillende uitvoeringen te zien geweest op tal van kunstbeurzen en tentoonstellingen. De stootheivaas is inmiddels opgenomen in diverse museale collecties (Boijmans van Beuningen, Nieuwe Instituut) en er staat ook een exemplaar op de Nederlandse ambassade in Japan.

De onnatuurlijke blauwe kleur maakt de stootheivaas tot een vanzelfsprekende blikvanger. Het is een kleur die de blik van de toeschouwer onmiddellijk op scherp stelt en die in ultieme mate contrasteert met de ‘natuurlijke’ inhoud van de vaas. De vaas is vanwege zijn forse afmetingen en gewicht uitermate geschikt voor zware takken.

In 2012, Frank Bruiggeman provided a metal fence post driver with a cyan blue coating. He presented the object as a vase at his solo exhibition How to do the flowers in Brutto Gusto gallery in Berlin. Since then, the post driver vase has been on display in various versions at numerous art fairs and exhibitions. The post driver vase has been included in various museum collections (Boijmans van Beuningen, Nieuwe Instituut) and there is also one standing in the Dutch embassy in Japan.

Its unnatural blue color makes the post driver vase an obvious eye-catcher. It is a color that focuses the viewer’s eye and that is in ultimate contrast with the ‘natural’ contents of the vase. Due to its dimensions and weight of the vase it is very suitable for heavy tree branches.
