| NL Stillevens worden geacht niet te bewegen en al helemaal niet als het letterlijk natura morta installaties zijn. Frank Bruggeman tart de conventie met een rijdend natuurstilleven waarvan de vormgeving refereert aan de bekende Michelin mascotte Bibendum. De in het object verwerkte vazen en keramische objecten zijn deels afkomstig van overleden familieleden en deels gekocht in kringloopwinkels, waar zoals bekend nogal wat afdankertjes uit erfenissen belanden. De plantaardige materialen zijn geselecteerd uit de botanische verzameling van de kunstenaar. De installatie is ter plekke aangevuld met vers fluitenkruid alsmede een uitgedroogd boeket tulpen, achtergebleven in de galerie van een vorige tentoonstelling. |
EN Still lifes are not supposed to move, especially if they are literally natura morta installations. Frank Bruggeman defies convention with this moving nature still life. The design refers to the well-known Michelin mascot Bibendum. The vases and ceramic objects incorporated into the installation were partly inherited from deceased relatives and partly purchased in thrift stores, where quite a few cast-offs from inheritances end up. The plant materials have been selected from the artist’s botanical collection. The installation was supplemented on site with fresh cow parsley as well as a dried out bouquet of tulips, left behind in the gallery after a previous exhibition. |
