NATURE OBJECT #24

| NL In een tentoonstellingsruimte die gekenmerkt wordt door utilitaire rechtlijnigheid wilde Bruggeman de weerspannigheid van de natuur een legitieme plaats gunnen. Rond één van de betonnen pilaren is een half zwevend natuurobject geconstrueerd van takken en andere plantaardige materialen, merendeels restanten van eerdere projecten. Als drager zijn twee forse schapdragers gebruikt van waaruit middels stapelingen en vlechtconstructies een grillig gevormd object zich de ruimte in begeeft. Het geheel is aangevuld met artefacten die de kunstenaar heeft gevonden in wegbermen en plantsoenen, zoals autobanden en helmen van zogenaamde ‘strooiscooters’. Het zijn juist deze artefacten die de vergankelijkheid en schoonheid van de natuurlijke materialen benadrukken. |
EN In an exhibition space characterized by utilitarian linearity, Bruggeman wanted to give the unruliness of nature a legitimate place. A semi-floating nature object has been constructed around one of the concrete pillars. It consists of branches and other dead plant materials, mostly remnants of previous art projects. Two large shelf supports have been used as a carrier, from which the object moves into the space through stacked and braided constructions. The nature object is supplemented with artefacts that the artist has found on roadsides and in public gardens, such as car tires and ‘stray helmets’ from e-moped sharing companies. It is precisely these artefacts that emphasize the transience and beauty of the plant materials. |
