Three catwalk flower pieces for the 2017 spring/summer couture show of Viktor & Rolf during the Paris Fashion Week. The Viktor & Rolf creations for this collection, that are presented under the title ‘Boulevard of broken dreams’, are composed of fabrics of taken apart dresses from past collections. In line with this principle each flower piece is more or less a composition of several deconstructed flower pieces. Therefore plant materials have been chosen for their sharp contrast in form, color and format. Spring-blooming shrubs as magnolia and hybrid witch hazel and twigs of the horse chestnut tree are combined with classic cut flowers as rose, carnation, gerbera and baby’s breath. Exotic pot plants like asparagus, azalea, aechmea, dracaena and conifer have been added, sometimes in such a way that only their root system is visible. Beauty also arises from these included imperfections.

 

Drie bloemen/plantenarrangementen voor de catwalk-presentatie van de Viktor & Rolf lente/zomer collectie van 2017 tijdens de Parijse mode weken. Deze couturecollectie getiteld ‘Boulevard of broken dreams’ bestaat uit creaties die in feite composities zijn van uit elkaar gehaalde jurken uit vorige collecties. In overeenstemming daarmee zien ook deze bloemen/plantenarrangementen eruit alsof ze zijn samengesteld uit onderdelen van andere bloemstukken. Vandaar dat voor deze arrangementen plantaardige materialen zijn gebruikt van zeer afwisselende vorm, kleur en grootte. Uitbottende kastanjetakken en bloeiende voorjaarsheesters als magnolia en toverhazelaar zijn gecombineerd met klassieke snijbloemen als rozen, anjers, gerbera’s en gipskruid. Verder zijn exotische potplanten als asparagus, azalea, dracaena, kokerbromelia en kamerconifeer toegevoegd, soms op een zodanige wijze dat alleen hun kluit zichtbaar is. Juist deze kleine imperfecties accentueren de schoonheid van het geheel.
